AB Group and one of its partner companies have been engaged as financing advisors to a hotel start-up in Italy and Spain. The concept is for a chain of low-cost high-quality hotels throughout Italy and Spain. Some already exist and financing is now being sought for project expansion. The concept is based upon that of budget airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet: each offers efficient, functional, clean and inexpensive service.

The hotel chain does the same by offering very nice rooms with all the amenities such as wireless internet access and satellite television but without the extras offered by more expensive hotels such as exercise rooms and restaurants. Travelers get a very comfortable (relatively small, 20 sqm), clean and functional room for EUR 50 per night double occupancy. The locations are excellent (major airports, convention centres). We feel that there is a market for the traveler – business or pleasure – who needs only lodging and not the other hotel amenities. Permits for some airport locations will be received in the next month and thereafter the next expansion phase will begin. The returns and equity that will be given to investors are very attractive. A German group has approached us about the possibility of working together on a private race track/country club. The idea is to emulate a country club environment that is typically focused around the game of golf but rather than golf, place the focus on the sport of auto racing.

Members would have facilities for the storage and care of their Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Astons, etc and could spend their free time with their friends and families in an idyllic country club environment with gardens, swimming, fine dining and social events while also tearing up the track and pushing the limits of their sports cars.

We think it is a good idea but also obviously one that requires a lot of planning, organizing and financing. It might be a possibility for the near or distant future. Should you or any of your clients also find the idea attractive perhaps we could combine something.
